Nurse looks back at 25 years at PCLA

Jan Robillard retired this summer after spending most of her career as a psychiatric nurse at Pioneer Community Living Association.

"I remember my first day -- July 28, 1988," says Robillard. I left my job at the hospital to work in a smaller, warmer setting."

Robillard explains that CRESST started out as a very basic operation with nurses working alone with only phone support from doctors. Over time the facility evolved into the facility it is today -- a great team and one consistent psychiatrist working in tandem with the PCLA staff.

"PCLA has become a vital part of the health care system," she says. She explains that the clients feel safe and important players in their own treatment plans.

When asked what she will miss most, Robillard anwers quickly. "The people have always been the best part about working here. The staff and the clients are why I've always like coming to work," says Robillard.

Robillard is looking forward to relaxing and spending time with family and friends but will keep in touch with the long time friends she has made at PCLA.
